Tanzania Bank Launches Deposit ATMs
In an effort to improve customer service, the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has announced the launch of deposit taking Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at various branches across Tanzania.
According to the Head of Digital and Alternative Channels for the NBC, Raymond Mutagahywa, the new network of ATMs will be available at locations in Kariakoo, Kinondoni, Mlimani City and at Corporate Branches in the Dar es Salaam region.
“The introduction of these ATMs will ensure that our customers enjoy the convenience of being able to deposit cash into their accounts through our network of deposit taking ATMs,” he said, “The deposit taking ATMs are fast, easy, convenient and real time.”
Customers can deposit as much as TZS 1.5 million per person at the four locations with plans for the bank to launch additional locations in 2015.

In in an effort to reduce cash
dependency and improve financial inclusion, Tanzania National
Microfinance Bank (NMB) and MasterCard have agreed to offer 1.5 million
MasterCard payment cards to Tanzania banking customers over the next
seven years. The new payment cards will include the latest contactless technology available from MasterCard and will be the largest distribution of contactless MasterCard payment cards in Tanzania. According to MasterCard’s President of sub-Saharan Africa, Daniel Monehin, the partnership will provide a convenient and reliable method of payment to customers by combining MasterCard’s global payment technology with the growing network of NMB branches, e-money cashpoints and ATM locations. “Over the past few years, Tanzania has made excellent progress in extending financial inclusion and financial services to financially under-served,” he said, “Working together with the government, financial institutions, merchants and businesses, we will be able to help modernize the payment industry in Tanzania.” The CEO of NMB, Mark Wiessing, echoed the excitement and indicated that, because consumers in Tanzania are moving from a cash economy to a cashless economy, the partnership is both timely and important in helping their customers to more easily transition. “NMB Bank is committed to providing innovative solutions and banking services to individuals as well as small and medium sized businesses,” he explained. |
